In Memory of Hollis Gene McClard Age: 75 - July 8, 1941 - August 5, 2016
Hollis Gene McClard was born on July 8, 1941, in Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late William Benton McClard and Lucy Dickens McClard. He was one of seven children born to this union.
Along with his parents, Hollis was also preceded in death by his brothers, Resper McClard, Willard McClard, Junior Ray McClard, Bobby McClard, and Sister, Mary Neal Phillips.
Hollis married Gay Nell Gregory McClard on May 21, 1960 and they were blessed with one son, Mark. Hollis was saved as a young boy while praying in a ditch when the family lived on Scottsville Road. He became a member of Maple Grove #2 Missionary Baptist Church. Hollis barbered with Fred Steen from 1962-1974. In 1974 he followed in his father's footsteps and was elected as Macon County Sheriff and served in that position until 1976. In 1980 Hollis joined the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge #664. He opened the Video Corner in 1987 and then in 1998 Hollis opened the Corner Barber Shop and he continued to cut hair until his death. Hollis enjoyed playing checkers, farming, and gardening. He never met a stranger and greeted all with that big smile and easy way. On Friday, August 5, 2016, at the age of seventy-five years and twenty-five days, Hollis was called to his Heavenly Home and is now rejoicing with the Lord and Savior. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Hollis is survived by his Wife, Gay Nell McClard; Son, Mark McClard; Brother, Joe McClard and wife Elizabeth; Brother-in-Law, Phillip Randall Gregory and wife Glenda; Sisters-in-Law, Ruth McClard and Ethel McClard. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Hollis McClard were conducted on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 11am, from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Dyer officiating.
